MG MGF Technical - Good MG-F technical manual
G'Day All, Recently I've been having some work done on my MG-F (99 model). Some of the work I understand, and some I don't. I'd like to become a little more educated in the technical maintenance side of the MG-F, so, I'm looking for a good technical manual of sorts. Something that has sme good DIY maintenance and explains to workings of the car. Any good recommendations where I can buy in-lone line since I live in the "colonies" all the way out here in Australia. Cheers Sonny |

Brilliant site there Jibé, do you have the TF manual in english? Seen the French language version, but not the English one :o/ |

Is it me? Tried (twice)to download/open the english version PDF file(MGF workshop manual) and keep getting an error message - 'the file is damaged and could not be repaired' Anyone else having this problem? Can anyone advise on what I might be doing wrong? Regards, Bob |

Hi :) i have not a problem to open the english version PDF file(MGF workshop manual) You have Adobe Acrobat 6.0 or 7.0 ? I have download and i can read...you must have a problem with the released of Adobe acrobat. Good day...bye :) Jeremy |

Can't open it on mine either - it just "freezes" to a stop. Adobe 4.0 on mine, latest I can get on an automatic update. |

Thanks Jeremy I have AA Reader 5.0. I looked at AA 7.0 but can't use it because it requires Windows 2000 and later - I have Windows 98SE. I'm surprised that version 5.0 will not open the file. Shame, the site looked excellent. Bob |

I'm still running AARDR6 because I can't be bothered to change. I also cannot open the UK version of Manual - or at least I can't wait for 880 pages to open. I have the manual on cd and even get fed up waiting for it to open and now keep the whole thing on hdd where access is almost instant. I can understand problems with file size over www. |

Thanks Jibe, Able to view with no problems using acrabat 6.0 |

You should try GhostScript and GSView. http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/ :) |

I downloaded it and opens OK in Acrobat Reader v4 & v7. Always use "save target as" and download a file of this size before you open it. Bob, sounds like your download may have dropped a few packets from the file and the EOF (End OF File) may be corrupted. Try again? |
Branko |
Thanks Branko Followed your "save target as" tip - worked fine. Jibé - excellent site. Many Thanks, Bob |

Bob, Glad I could help. :-) Also the site has some good videos. Fun to watch. (again, download first, then watch. That way you have a local copy of the file in your PC.) |

Hi all, Just for your information. It's was me that i reply to the forum about how to find the workshop for mg and give you the adress on the french web page, i don't know why my computer put the "Jibé, Paris, jbsimon@club-internet.fr" as my account, and now every time i want to reply on the forum i have this account"Jibé, Paris, jbsimon@club-internet.fr", i don't know how to remove it, it's perhaps in my cookies, so now i'm writting from an other computer, like this i can have my own account. see you on the forum your are all great pascandrea |

Hi Pascandrea, :) this happens IMO if someone posts a link with _his_ (Jibe) anywhere. Unwanted including _his_ Member ID (14 figurs behind thread&access) http://www2.mgcars.org.uk/cgi-bin/gen5?runprog=mgbbs&mode=thread&access=&subject=69&source=T&thread=200503030051251345 (IDIDID.. is the location where your individual figure code is) If anyone (you in this case) keys on that link, he gets to the BBS _logged in_ as the other. No problem so far, unless you stay in that browser window and post a new BBS message. Personality changed, voila, faked post. I'm afraid, but have no idea how to find the right (fake) cookie. HTH Dieter PS. thank you for that link, though :) |

Doohhh, Mike (webmaster) heavyly improved the BBS. All figures behind the &access get eaten until =subject. Didn't know that until now. I think that feature for security was included a longer time ago. However, now sure. Jibe posted any link of a BBS Thread with his ID to any other Forum or webside. You keyed that link and changed personality :) Would be great if you could remember the Forum where you came from and send a message to that Moderator due to removing the ID of Jibe. Regards Dieter |
