MG MGF Technical - Handbrake Grip
Can anyone tell me if there is a trick to removing the grip on the handbrake, I have a leather one to fit. |

No trick just bloody hard work - twist and pull. |

It may make the job easier if you heat the handle by leaving it in the hot sunshine for an hour or two. If you have no hot sunshine, then use a hair dryer to heat the handle. That should expand soften the handle lightly making it easier to slide off. (Anyway, thats the theory as I have not actually tried this on an MGF, but have on other cars) |

I know what you mean - I became convinced it was glued on & gave up. Some weeks later a friend who would raise Hercules' eyebrow had a go & failed too. One day I'll try roping it to a substantial building and reversing away at high speed. Could be the first ever insurance claim where a driver destroyed a building by driving away from it... |

It does come off because mine has been changed BUT I confess it was good old Mike Satur that did it for me! Ted |

Removed mine to fit a walnut grip by turning it with a set of stilsons (once turned thru 90 it just slides off).PS it will mark your old grip unless you protect it. HTH |
