First thing is to ensure that the battery is new/good. 2nd is to clean all connections, both earth and feed, between the battery and starter. Any voltage drop may result in a lower voltage to the coil and a poor spark. Geoff F. |

the battery is good, will clean the earth conections tomorrow, thanks geoff. |

Geoff, Not sure which version ecu you have but, check and clean the MAP sensor, which may be part of the ECU. cheers, Branko |

Geoff, did you just test or replace the crank sensor? If it was just tested it might be worthwhile getting it retested whilst the motor will not start or just replacing it. Robert |

Geoff, I still think it could be the crank sensor. My sons car displayed the same problem and it turned out to be the sensor. Does the car restart easily after it has been warmed up or is it only from cold that you have the problem. Robert |

MAP-Sensor stands for Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor. At your car without VVC it is located inside the ECU. http://www.mgfcar.de/mems1.9/dk_DCP_5675.jpg The big black component with hose on the left. http://www.mgfcar.de/mems1.9/index.htm Pictures are from a broken ECU. Don't just tray to open it. That's speciallist works, if it is broken. i.e. at Incotronic ltd. 69 Great Hampton Street Birmingham West Midlands B18 6EW I'd double check the wiring of the Sensors to the ECU, including connectors at the ECU before I would believe in a faulty ECU. Also check in to a MG workshop with Teatbook Computer for a failure check. Did you already try to disconnect/reconnect the big Connector at the ECU ? The thin wires there are those from the sensors and TPS. |

Have you tried changing the HT leads, especially the one from coil to dizzy? It usually sorts my 11 year old out |

Make sure plug gaps are 0.8mm HTH |
