MG MGF Technical - hardtop fitting
i am thinking of purchasing a Hardtop, MGrover v Heritage? I'm been advised by my dealer I need to adjust the windows each time the hardtop is fitted!! |

Get a new dealer......! I have a hardtop and swap between frequently ( it's always parked overnight with the hardtop on ~ local vandals make me nervous ) I've never had to adjust the windows... They need to be set up properly for both, and should be ok with the same settings. |

My Hardtop has been on two cars - an F and my replacement TF. I have never had to adjust the windows, but have made a slight adjustment to the seals on the hardtop to stop a small leak once. Steve |

Same.. I swap mine over each night.. The only thing I have even done is pad the hooks (only slightly) with tape to stop any rattles.. |

Mark, Go and have a look on ebay, there are currently 2 or 3 on there for sale - better than paying a grand for a new one. I must admit, when the dealer told me that you need to adjust the seals every time you swopped them over it put me off - plus the fact that it takes two people to lift and I'd have no where to store it. I had a heritage hard top for my F and did have recurring probs with its fitting every autumn. ie it didn't seal well and there was noise and more leaks. Have an MG Rover hard top for the TF and have had no probs at all fitting it. |
