MG MGF Technical - heat fan switch MGF 1996
Internal heating switch does not appear to work at setting 1 and 2, can anyone tell me how to get access to this switch, I assume this does control the fan speed |

Martin Go to archive and search for Heater Resistor Pack or Heater Fan or similar. You will find loads of hits complete with part numbers, prices, instructions and, even, pictures. very common problem a £4 resistor fails and just needs replacing. |

Martin, the problem is exactly as John describes - one of the resistor wires has burnt out. Accessing the switch is pretty easy - and is out lined on Dieter's and Tim's websites. |

Replaced mine last week!, speeds 1+2 not working. Remove glovebox, heater resistor is fixed to heater box with 2 screws, unplug wiring loom, remove, re-fit new. As Rob says, one of the wire coils burns out, would think a DIY repair to the old one is poss with a soldering iron!. Anyway easy enough job to do! :o) JP. >> a £4 resistor fails and just needs replacing.<< When was the last time you bought anything from Rover?? :o) |

When was the last time you bought anything from Rover?? :o) 1. 12 Months ago next week - my TF135, and it cost more than £4. 2. Sorry, I spent my youth studying Cost Accountancy for the ICWA exams; I automatically think in terms of cost price not retail. 3. ?? MGF Centre ?? |

JP. 4. Rover, cost £12.:o( 5. Soldering iron from the garage, re-join burnt resistor wire, Cost £0. :o) Being in Accounts option 5 would be best for you!! :o)) |

£12 - they are having a giraffe! |

I have been trying to get hold of a Heater resistor for a few days, Browns and Gammons and my local Marshall MG both want £25 for it! 2 of my coils have gone and cannot be soldered back together, they might be able to be replaced individually but if I could get one for £12 I would so where are they???? |
