MG MGF Technical - Heater control mg tf

Can anybody tell me if my heater control at the vavle end ie behind the dash needs some form of clip to stop it jumping off it appear when I turn from hot to cold the cam jump off many thanks
paul

Can't get what you mean exactly.

Anyway, from heater halve to heater control assy is a wire in hose, a kind of bowden cable. Both wire ends are Z-shape and can't slip off. The hose cover is clip-on on the heater valve side with a strong clip and on the assy side mounted with a clip with bolt.

Your trouble seams to be with the heater control gear ?
The control knob has small gear on the shaft end. This cams with a gear segment. And an one end is the above mentioned Z-shape wire.

Assume you mean the clip ring holding down the gear segment ?

It's not something as simple as a cracked plastic sleeve in the control knob, is it? Easy to bodge if you can't source a replacement.

Sorry if i did not explain myself its actually at the vavle end were the cam hits the vavle there seems to be a metal pin that goes through the plastic cam and this jumps off when when you turn the knob from hot to cold thanks

Is there some way to help the heater knob to turn more freely ? (with grease or something ?)
In my TF it's noticeably harder to turn this knob than in my previous F...

Paul is on this part.

May be the shaft securing ring (spelling?) on the left has got to many play ?
You could try to push it more down with a ring shape tool. Meet the ring on the outer diameter and push.
A 8mm ratched socket or similar should do it

Fabrice, it's all from plastic. May be some silicon spray to the shaft behind the know may help. Or lots of white grease to the gears.
