MG MGF Technical - HELP
I have spoken with B&G who tell me that it could take 12 hours to find the fault that has made my VVC fail its MOT co2 test. See lambda thread B&G have confirmed cat, lambda sensor are OK and have done test book. Warranty company will not pay for diagnosis, and I think that I would be lucky for them to pay for anything that’s gone wrong. I have had this car eleven months and bought from Rover dealer and so far spent over £1500 on repairs. Surely there must be something I can do; I don't want to spend £500 on diagnosis. |

Do B&G have a testbook? |

Yes I have also spoken to local Rover dealer who confirm that they could spend 12 hours in diagnosis. I think I could hear the rubbing of hands in the background. |

You could try ecocab technical support 02380427920 they transplant rover 1.8i petrol/lpg into London cabs ,they are always very helpful. Simon owner of converted taxi-cab |

..take it to another MOT station and ask them to just do an emissions test for you. Check ALL the readings against those on the first fail sheet, and take it from there. |

Make sure you do a long drive before the MOT so that the Catalyic converter is at proper operation temperature. As for 12 hours to find out what the problem is,seems a bit strange, maybe get someone to change the ECU to see if the ECU is faulty only a hours work if that. Tom |

The good long and hard drive before testing is a good tip - it gets rid of an amazing amount 'test fail' igredients! Ted |

A simple problem which can afect the emmision is a leak in the exhaust system, wouldn,t think the test station would have overlooked this but never know,if you can get underneath the car take a look and feel exhaust joints for leaking. |
