MG MGF Technical - Hi guys, Back Again More problems!!!

Oh i dont believe it ( As Vic Meldrew would say!!)
Mildred now has no REVERSE gear!!
Just had to push her backwards ......much to the delight of the local kids!!
It has been back from MGR garage 6 days where they replace the gear selector cable ( Luckily Under Warenty as it was done less than a year ago)
Now reverse gear doesnt work at all......feels like its blocked off.......the other gears feel " Funny" too. Sorry cant really explain how .
Have done a serch of the archieve but cant find anything thats the same.
Does anyone have any idea what it might be this time??

HELLLLLPPPP :-(
Emma

Hi Emma,

you know about the german sarcasm :)

>Have done a search of the archieve but cant find anything thats the same.

Don't worry, it's an MG and the workshops always find new extras to angre customers.

Means serious:

The gear cables seam just wrong adjusted, or a rear fixture clip got loose or bent.
Take it back and let them correct their failure.

Dieter, Thank You ........you are a star!!

One thing i have to ask though........since you always seem here when us desperate people need advice are you permanently connected to this BBS ????

Lol Thanks again will take it back again tomorrow and cause some trouble metinks ( Im sure HEREFORD ROVER love me ..........NOT!!!
Emma

>are you permanently connected to this BBS ????

;) of course not, but almost at weekends and late in the evening. Regular user since late 1998.

>Im sure HEREFORD ROVER love me ..........NOT!!!

Regards from the silly German bloke. I think they may know the name ?? LOL

However the above advise must not be the one and only reason.
Did Mildred suffer from *the other gears feel " Funny" too* already since you picked her up from the repair ?
Or did it happend suddenly a couple of miles later ?

Dieter K.

The reverse gear has not been " Totally Right" since i had the car , however i think from what i have read on here that a lot of people have the same problem and it doesnt seem anything to worry about.
I used the car very early this morning .....iw was a struggle to get it in reverse then but i didnt really think anything of it.
Used it again this afternoon and reverse had suddenly disappeared. Tried for ages doing various things to get in into reverse but its as if there is no gear to select there .
If its not the cables or oil what else could it be??
ps Have u had dealings with the wonderful hereford rover that dont have any courtesy cars before dieter???
Emma

From this description ....
I hope it's adjustment only.

>dont have any courtesy cars before dieter???

*g* is the Hereford Rover MD a german ;)
Dealers spending courtesy cars are most rare over here in DE. We almost pay app 20 quid for a rent car ... if any is availiable, of course.

Anyway, be polite with them and keep smiling while telling them.
I've no sense what's up with Mildred. The gearing is so bad since your repair. I can't drive Mildred any longer until you fix it .... FOC. :)

Good luck

Dieter K.

Hi Emma, have you ever thought your car may be punishing you as she's not happy with her "unusual" name?

Mildred? For an F? Isn't that more..... a 2CV name?
Holster

lol i have always called my cars mildred we are on mildred mark 7 now. I only deviated from this when i used to borrow my grandads honda civic ( i was a poor student at the time and he used to fill it up with petrol for me ) when i called him George.

Well Milly is now fixed with huuuge thanks to the MGF centre who my boyfriend rang up for some advice.
I was told by the dealer that they would not be able to even look at it till 24th june. The Mgf centre said it sounds like they have not replaced a Pin in the gearbox mechanism correctly which has fallen out.

Just been to have the pin replaced took all of 5 mins.
As soon as i mentioned that the MGF centre had said it was probably the pin attitudes suddenly changed.

I know where my car will be going for any further work and servicing now and it will be to Wolverhampton :-)

Ps greetings Holster form a fellow sheffielder although expat now i had to leave ...it was too cold there !!!
Emma

......Cold......!

It's been blummen hot here for ages !
