MG MGF Technical - High level brake light
i want 2 fit a high level brake light but want 2 know if i have 2 buy a new plastic surround along with the light itself. My car does have a surround fitted but having looked at the sites selling the kits their surrounds have a a slot in them 4 the cable 2 go through i presume and mine doesnt. Sorry if this is a silly question. Thanks Gary. |

You will need longer screws than the current ones and I believe there is a pop out section for the cable to pass through. If your car does not have ABS you will also require a wire loom, but you can make up the connections quite cheaply yourself, see the earlier thread on High level brake Light. |

Hi Gazza, No, no new surround needs to be purchased; the existing one just needs a cut-out punched out :o) More on this at http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/HLBL.htm Hope this helps :o) |

Pop out section can be seen on the back of the surround. Pretty obvious once its off the car:o) |

Gazza, If by any chance you break your existing surround when punching the hole out the back let me know. I've got a spare one after fitting my HLBL recently (mine came as a complete unit). If you need it I'll post it to you. Jim |
