MG MGF Technical - How do I access the coil in 96 F

I need to change Ht leads to coil how do I get to it.

Thanks

Mac

Reach down through the boot entry 'slot' - the coil is on the back edge of the block beneath the inlet manifold. Virtually dead central side to side, and about 1/3 of the way up the back of the block.
Prepare for scratched arms!

Dave

Thanks for that found it but how do you get the HT lead out to replace it.

Do you mean - how do you get to the distributor cap to remove the lead.
Or, how do you physically remove the lead from the coil?
Dave

how do you physically remove the lead from the coil
mac

removing the lead to the coil is a flow it with your fingers, grip boot firmly and twist. The rubber will snap as it breaks the seal and then the plug can be pulled off straight.

Thanks very much for will let you know how it goes
mac

Thanks It is out Next Question is how do you remove the plug leads from the plug caps?
mac

The ht lead has been rubbing against a fitting and shorting.
mac

take engine cover off, remove plastic cover (2 big crosshead screws) this uncovers the plug leads, twist and then pull like before.

when you refit them make sure they go into the suppljed clips to keep them in tge right places.

replace the leads one at a time so you don't have any chance of mixing them up
