You will need to take the TBar off and see if the wiring exists. At that time you could see what fixings are available, size etc. to help you make your choice. You will need to undo the srews that hold the poppers in place when you fit the tonneau, and the T bar is then held on by plastic clips, you will need to pull it at an angle of 45 deg upwards. Just be careful else you will break the clips.

I got a Tee bar and speakers from Midland MGF for £125 all in. Worth the money and absolutely hassle free...

T-bar removal instructions can be found at http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/tbar_installation.htm

Not sure how much hardware comes ready installed on the 1.6. I've got instructions for installing speakers into the T-bar of an early MGF, but I'm not sure how relevant this would be for you?

For information: http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/installing_rear_t.htm

The info for extending the 2 speaker wiring harness into four may be of interest if the 1.6 does not already have it (could you let us know whether yours has or not? Very useful info for others in the future).

I did this coversion on a mk1, but if I were to do it agin I would go the same route as Tim, it will work out about £10-£20 more expensive, but the finished result will look better and you will save yourself HOURS.

If you break the plastic fixings then go to MGR and ask for the kit for the seatbelt recall, it comes with some parts you don't need, but is less than a quid (and cheaper than buying the plastic pins)

Mick,

I have MY2000 F with the rear speakers fitted. The T Bar is really easy to take off - just be careful not to break anything. The speakers don't attach to the T Bar behind the grills. They attach to the metal of the rear bulkhead. I'd take the T Bar off and have a look to see if the brackets and wiring is already there. I'm sure that there is some info in the archives about speaker sizes.
