Tony, I'm sure this is probably covered in the archives somewhere. However there are 2 ways to find the source; 1.)The technical version - get a multimeter & run a continuity test on the wiring from each of the door plungers to the lamp circuit (your multimeter destruction will tell you how). 2.)The non-technical version - fiddle about with the plungers on each of the door switches & see if the light then goes out, that ones your culprit. Failing that undo the screw & replace the plunger in turn until the light goes out. Hope this helps, Steve |

>>Interior Lights<< >>All The Time<< The Interior lights are those below the mirror. If only these are on and not the other cockpit lights (LH and RH Footwell and ignition switch) then they may be switched on by the under mirror switches. All 4 lights are otherwise controlled by the multi function ECU. They switch ON when either door switch makes an earth connection to the MF ECU. They Fade Out. When both doors close. After 18 seconds if a door is subsequently opened and closed. The ignition switch is moved to Position II with both doors shut within the above 18 secs. The doors are locked or a door is left open for approximately 9 minutes. If all 4 lights remain on regardless of the above, then it would suggest a short to earth between the lights and the MF ECU. (Member at work :( ) Could also be the boot wiring shorting out: the boot-light is on the same circuit. Graham. |

>>boot light is on the same circuit<< The boot light has the same feed from Fuse 12 but it is not switched to earth by the MF ECU. It is on a separate circuit being earthed thru the boot lamp switch. Geoff F. |

Try this test. Alarm system test The alarm system can be tested by following the procedure described below: 1. Ensure doors, bonnet and the boot lid are closed. 2. Sit in the driver’s seat and close the door. NOTE: The next three actions must be carried out within 2 seconds. 3. Depress the driver’s doorsill button. 4. Switch the ignition on, off and on again. 5. Raise the driver’s doorsill button. If the test mode has been entered correctly, the horns will give a short beep and the engine immobilisation buzzer will sound. Opening either door, the bonnet or the boot lid, or operating the driver’s doorsill button, will cause the alarm LED to illuminate for approximately one second. If the LED does not illuminate, there is a system fault. The volumetric sensor can also be tested while in test mode. To test the volumetric sensor, press the unlock button on the remote handset several times. The alarm LED will illuminate for approximately 1 second each time movement is detected in the vehicle. The test mode is cancelled by switching the ignition OFF. So...If you open a door and the LED fails to light then this could be a way of finding out which door is giving the trouble. Bruce |
