MG MGF Technical - Is this good!
Hi all, went to dimond rover dealer to book my car in for a service. turn out my cam belt have not been changes. it is a p'96 vvc. dealer said it be best to do the 60k service now as we dont really no wot's been changed. the4 total cost of this service would be £640. is this good? |

The 60k is an expensive service, but 640 quid sounds like a lot. I took mine to Techspeed for this service - but I can't tell you exactly how much this was as I had suspension, quick shift and subframe bushes replaced all at the same time. However, their itemised price for the 60k is 370 quid... so it would be well worth your while dropping Marvin and Roy a line... (01926 632066) |

That seems to be in the usual MGR ball park figure... Independent MGF Specialist will car a bit less... For example B&G will do a 60K service for a VVC for 499 (I just happened to have their catalogue to hand). Mike Satur, Techspeed et al Will also give good prices and great service. Many people on this board think it is worth travelling a little bit to get good servicing and that usually means one of the above and not an MGR dealer! |

Gee Your estimate is about right for Diamond. Can't remember their labout charge, but it's around £55 per hours + vat. They usually do a reasonable job, but check the job list before you leave to ensure you get what you are paying for. Chris |

Gee If you want to use MGR dealers then phone around and tell each one the bargain price another has allegedly quoted. Using this tactic I had the 60k service done for £399 at a main MGR dealer. Neil |
