MG MGF Technical - know you wheels.
Anyone got settings for standard MGF Wheels. I have: 4-stud PCD 92.25 Center Bore 56.6 Offest ET 35-40 However with Mike's Hub adaptors. 4-stud PCD variable Center Bore should remain unchanged. Offset ET ???? I guess new offest should be existing offset+width of spacer. guess this is in millimeters. Which means offest should be in the region of..55-60?? That's quite a large offset. If using standard rover settings, wheels will stick out further from the car. This will cause the steeering axis to move from the center of the tyre towards the inner edge of the tyre. see http://autozine.kyul.net/technical_school/suspension/tech_pic_sus_mac1.jpg This means the wheel will arc around this axis, rather than turning on it. So anyone got any ideas on what offset should be with Mike's hub adaptors? |

Paul, Suspect you have mis-typed the standard PCD. I believe it is 3.75 inch = 95.25mm. Just in case anyone gets confused! Regarding the offset, I think you are probably right. Manufacturers often produce wheels in a range of offsets so you should be able to find something to fit. Would think that Mike's the best person to ask as he supplies the adaptors. Chris |

Hmmm, you are probably right. However, i have been running on TSW Blades now since 1997 and they sit directly below the wheel arches leading to the conclusion that they also have a greater offset from the hub than the standard wheels. In the years since fitment, the only problem i have had with them is that it limits how low i can take the ride height comfortably (due to potential contact with the wheel arches). Certainly from a handling and tyre wear point of view i have no qualms whatsoever (regularly get between 18 and 20K from a set of tyres - this i feel is acceptable). Speak to Mike, he will some definitive answers for you. SF |

Roger P has been quoting the PCD as 95.4 mm for some years - does anyone have a definitive source of the info ? |

PCD is the same as my TR7 which is 3.75 inch. Using a conversion factor of 25.4 gives you 95.25mm. This is the figure I quoted to several wheel suppliers when buying some new wheels for the TR& recently & they most definitely fit! |
