MG MGF Technical - Leaking Door and Alarm

I have a '96 MGF and the windows don't quite go upto the Rubber seal - Is there a easy fix ??

Also, on the drivers door behind the wing mirror there is a little hole in the rubber which is causing a small leak into the well between the drivers seat and the door - is there anything that any of you can suggest to stop this

One other thing - I have tried to put a cover over the car at nigt and the alarm keeps going off - Anybody know what would be setting it off - I thought the alarm worked when the door was opened ?

Have you had the car from new?

If not do you know its history?

The reason I ask is that the early cars had different size windows - slightly larger glass - if for some reason the windows have been changed and they have fitted the later glass then you mmay need new seals on the hood and hard top (if you have one) HOWEVER it is worth just adjusting the windows first - full details are available in the archives/FAQ/Dieter.

The alarm is also 'volumetric' - that means it measures the inside of the car - even with the hood down - so by putting the cover on you may be disturbing the alarm, this can be adjusted by a dealer but it needs Testbook to do it.

Welcome to the MGF world! Are you new to MGs (old or new) if so you will find that the car brings you into a new world where the Marque of Friendship is just amazing and during the year there are many meetings, rallies and trips and I know that Cambridgeshire area is very active.

Good luck and enjoy your MG

Also check the door hasn't dropped - you should be able to tell by looking across top of the door along the black strip. Strip on door should match that on the rear wing just below the hood.
