MG MGF Technical - Light bulbs within push switches
A couple of the bulbs in-side some of the centre console push switches have blown. Its an 1998 MGF. Any tips on what they called or where to get them? They are tiny little things in a yellow plactic holder. Cheers Steve |

I couldn't find them when mine blew - 2 per switch, one for the backlight and one which actuates when the switch is pressed - I bought a second hand switch off ebay and used the two bulbs to repair two of my switches (it was just the backlight I wanted). |

I just replaced 2 bulbs on my daughters car. If you are a DIY'er, them here's some bulb info from Dieter's site... 3.1 Ø x 6.5 mm, 6-12 V 20-40 mA with 17 mm of wire ends Cheers Branko |

Off to Halfrauds at lunch time to see if I can buy some. |

For the archive Halfords do not sell them but Maplins do, for the sum of 69p each (BT43). While I was at it I replaced the clock and oil gauge bulbs which had also blown. Halfords did have these; Clock: Type 281 12v 2W Oil gauge: Type 286 12v 1.2W Has any one replaced the MGF bulbs with blue LEDs. I've found quite a lot about doing in TFs but I'm struggling a bit with the F. |

Nice one Steve! http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=1955&doy=7m8#overview No one that I've seen has converted the MGF switches to LED - although this ought to be possible - so long as they have an appropriate ballast resister... |

Just spotted that they do some similar in blue. There are only 49p so I might pop in tomorrow and pick up a couple. http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=25545&&source=14&doy=8m8 |
