MG MGF Technical - loss of water - help
Having had the dreaded HGF about a month ago I thought my troubles were over but today found the expansion tank completely empty - it took a pint and half to bring it back to the level. Q. The water is obviously going somewhere but there is no sign of any leaks.Any advice? Q. If the expansion tank is empty should the system need bleeding and if so where are the 3 bleed valves located. Hi Dave, is this you ? :) A1, could be an air lock due to bad bleeding. A2, In any way if the level has reached the lower outlet pipe. See http://www.mgfcar.de/bleed/index.htm and the links on top to Rob's site. I think Q1 could be the problem of having forgotten the fourth bleed location. HTH Dieter |

"I think Q1 could be the problem of having forgotten the fourth bleed location." Dieter, how right you were. I took the F back to the main dealers this morning and they admitted they cannot have bleed the system properly so air had been trapped inside and gradually escaped causing the "loss" of coolant. given so much has been written about air pockets on this BBS and the consequences, it gives me little confidence that it has been done correctly. Time to change the dealer me thinks. David |
