MG MGF Technical - Lower Suspension Arm
My 97 vvc just failed MOT on corroded lower suspension arm, garage quoted approx 330 to fix, but if bolts that secure anti-roll bar link to front subframe shear then there would be an extra charge (3-4 hours labour) to cut hole in side of subframe to get access to insert new nuts and bolts then weld a plate over it. Is this a common problem on F's and does yhe price seem reasonable? |

Cannonball Bob had this recently and all the work was done at Techspeed I believe so may be worth giving them a call - his story was in TotalMG about 4 months ago if you have a copy. |

Had all these bolts undone to do the poly bushes, on a '96 car, and I had no problems. Is that quote from an MGF specialist? If not it might be worth shopping around. |

I have just completed the front ARB brackets. Three out of the four bolts sheared and had to be drilled out. I had to cut off the bolts securing the drop links to the ARB. 3/4 hours is EXCESSIVE. |

Just read the post again. Cutting a hole in the sub-frame?? Welding? I think they are referring to the lower arm bolts rusting solid not the ARB mounts. |

Got car back, they were able to get bolts out ok and therefore didn't have to cut holes in side of subframe to get access. Total cost with MOT 380 |

Interesting. What was the parts and labour breakdown and hourly labour rate charged. |
