MG MGF Technical - MGF bulbs

Could somebody advise me please regarding MGF bulbs.Wilkies are selling nifty little boxed sets of spare bulbs as H3,H4 and H7 but what is correct for an F? I have had a good look at the bulb housings but there is no indication of the type there nor in the handbook , just the MGR type number for each bulb.I think it is probably H4 as most modern cars semm to be this but don't really want to disturb the bulbs from their housings if I can avoid it.Thanks folks.
MR Blencowe

From memory, the MGF uses a mixture of H4 and H7 and sometimes a combination of H4 and H7.

powerbulbs think that all 4 bulbs are the same; Halfords think they are all the same; my car definitely has both types.

Halfords tried to tell me my card was wrong and their chart was right !!!

Only sure way is to take both bulbs out (one side only ought to be OK) and convince yourself.

MG sell a "correct" pre-pack of spare bulbs (essential for touring) for about £15...get this and then you know that you'll be OK and no need to remove existing bulbs to check them out

Bob, problem was that some cars had left the factory with different bulb fittings, some H4 and some H7 and some mixed. My dealer told me there was no problem so I made him get outside in the rain and try to fit the bulbs. He came back wetter but wiser.

Long term it didn't help - the dealer shutdown 2 weeks ago.

Mine (98 1.8i) are all H1's Dipped, main & fogs.

Interestingly (or confusingly) my Owners Handbook says that Dip are GLB499 and Main are GLB448. While this does not directly indicate the H code, it does suggest that both bulbs are different - borne out in the case of my car but visual check.

BTW mine is a VVC - surely not even MGR would fit different bulbs for different engines?

Early MGF's had H1 & H7, Later cars all H1
