MG MGF Technical - MGF Cat replacment
Hi all Does anyone know when the cat on a MGF needs to be replaced? I'm replacing the rear exhaust/silencer with a standard unit, but I'm not too sure if I should replace the cat at the same time. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! Phil |

When it falls apart, as soon as you hear a strange rattle that you've not heard before, coinciding with power loss. Or when, at the MoT the values are not up to standard anymore. Some last very long (especially if you have a cat replacement pipe and the cat itself is in the attic), others seem to be going rather fast. So the saying still goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Phil, Mine went after 24k. Started making some great noises when I went over speed humps, and the car was not as responsive. Plus, the emissions light came on. Replaced it with a stainless steel one from Mike Satur (now fitted as standard instead of the ceramic ones). Cost £300 inc fitting. Andy |

Thanks for the advice Andy! |

Mine won't need replacement as it has been relocated into a cardboard box in my garage until the next MOT |
