MG MGF Technical - MGF emister
I have a '97 VVC, and the windows mist up terribly in cold/damp weather. With the demister selected an the fan on 4, there is hardly any air movement from the dash top vents. I suspect the selector, as air still blows through the face level vents with the demist selected. Shutting off the face level vents doesn't improve things. Any suggestions? |

That should read DEMISTER |

There is a Resistor that controls the fan speeds http://www.mgfcar.de/heater/dcp_3928.jpg . It often blowes and is quite a quick replacement. Here are instruction and pictures http://216.239.39.104/translate_c?hl=de&langpair=de%7Cen&u=http://www.mgfcar.de/heater/heater.htm&prev=/language_tools |

Have you or perhaps a previous owner ever had the dashboard out? I may be completely off track here but on my previous TVR it was quite easy for the actual "pipes" to become disconnected from the dashboard vents, in the Tiv it was an easy fix but not so sure on the MG or even if that could be a cause. |

John, if you leave the face vents on, the air through put to the windscreen demister vents is really poor. Try closing all the face vents, and see how the demister performance improves. |

So to get the story straight...... This EMISTER should be a DEMISTER with a broken RESISTOR.... It's a bit of a tongue TWISTER! Sorry, couldn't help it :-) |
