would a tf exehust fit a post 2001 mgf?? as i am bidding on one. dont want to get stung if the fitment is not right.. could someone get back to me not long left the cat part is the same as mine

Hi Darren,

hope I'm not too late replying...

If you have a late F, with the cat with the bent outlet pipe, rather than the short, straight cat, then the TF exhaust will fit straight on.

i've fitted a TF to my F, and there is a noticable improvement in response between the original and the TF exhaust.

Go for it, and good luck with the auction!

Darren be carefull that it is a TF exhaust some one was listing a Elise exhaust as a TF recently. They look very similar but the Elise has different mountings and I believe the outlet pippes are a little closer together.
Like Mike I have a TF box on my MGF, mine is a 96 but I have a purchased the 90 degree adaptor pipe.
If your TF box is an early one, it will have the drive by noise valve on the right rear pipe, you'll either have to rig up a vacuum pipe to the valve or jam it open.

Interestingly, on my exhaust, the default position for the TF exhaust valve is open, so if you leave the vacuum connector on the pipe disconnected, you have both tail pipes open..

hi would the mgtf160 exehust fit my 2001 plate mgf
it has the same outlet as before for the cat. but have noticed there there is an adaptor on one of the pipes can that be removed will it make any diffrence

the exhaust has a brake valve fitted would that make any chnge to fitting on the 2001 f
Darren Jeffery

again sorry for the delay in replying,

my 2001 F has a TF160 exhaust fitted without any problems - apart from those usually encountered by trying to remove the old exhaust - and i believe it offers a performance advantage over the original. regarding the valve, it was something fitted by MGR for (I believe) drive-by noise regulations, and if you leave the vacuum valve disconnected, it will default in the open position - which is what you want anyway.

cheers
