MG MGF Technical - MGF exhausts

Hi all,
I think the time has nearly come to buy a new exhaust; the old one's getting a bit loud and it rattles more than Simon. What do people out there recommend and what do you think I should avoid?
Also, out of interest, has anyone out there recorded the exhaust sounds of the various aftermarket exhausts and put mp3's of them up on the internet anywhere?
It's a W reg 2000 model MGF by the way.
thanks in advance,
Chris

According to most people this weekend my Miltek SS exhaust sounded great, a real wail not tinny. Why this weekend? because I was using the car on a trackday at the full 7250rpm in every gear.

Hi Chris,

I've got an MS Daytona - got a soundclip on my site:

Personally I love it - but then I would - it really depends on what sort of sound you're after. The Daytona is a reasonably deep, throaty tone with lots of pops and burbles.

I've got Mike Satur's basic stainless silencer - I don't think it's the Daytona - with his Piper 4-2-1 manifold. The latter made a surprising difference to the sound, much more serious and purposeful! Have a look on my webpages - http://www.lejambonfute.f2s.com/m2dyk_home.html has 2 clips, Reims was with the original standard system, and Knockhill was with just the new silencer. If you click on 'Read about its 10th birthday improvements, there are two more with the full system fitted.
It does encourage one to use more revs than are really necessary............

Chris,

I have a Mike Satur Daytona and I'm very pleased with it. However, a word of warning. Whichever system you decide upon, one thing is pretty much a certainty - your old system will be a real pig to get off.

Search the threads - there are plenty of horror stories about the bolts being seized/rusted solid. My OE system had to be cut off - on a 3 year old TF!

An exhaust fitting centre will probably charge you about £50 to fit an exhaust supplied by you. Believe me, it's £50 well spent.

Cheers,

Bob
