MG MGF Technical - MGF Jacking Points
Can anyone tell me where I should jack my MGF VVC with a trolley jack. There is no data in the owner's manual and I do not really want to jack on the seam that is used for the scissor type jack supplied with the car. A picture would be great (of the jacking points obviously!-)) |

Popular request eh! Any jacking points except the sill points aren't that obvious as I found when doing a recent waxoil on the TF - everything looks a bit fragile under there. Official points are one to be added to Rob's or Dieter's great sites maybe :) |

Some more info: From here: http://www.mgcars.org.uk/MGF/mgfaq2.htm Jack Points You can use the reinforced brackets in the sills. You can also use the sub frame longitudinal members, which may be more suitable for axle stands. Don't use the suspension attachment points. There are central jacking points both front and rear, the rear is the U-shaped thing hanging down at the rear. Others use a trolley jack, suitably padded, under the longitudinal sub frame members for each wheel instead of the standard jacking points, it seems kinder. Some will probably use two jacks under both sub frame members to lift the entire front/rear, when it comes to that. From Here: RAVE CD Workshop Manual page 64 (JACKING, SUPPORTING AND TOWING) says: 1. Central jacking point - front 2. Central jacking point - rear 3. RH sill reinforced bracket - front 4. LH sill reinforced bracket - front 5. LH sill reinforced bracket - rear 6. RH sill reinforced bracket - rear 7. Subframe longitudinal members - front 8. Subframe longitudinal members - rear with lots of clear pics. HTH Branko |
