MG MGF Technical - MGF / MGTF seats

The driver seat in my 1996 MGF is now starting to show bad signs of wear and I'm looking at replacing them.

Unfortuneatly, because of the age of the car, it doesn't look possible to get direct replacements, so I'm looking at the alternatives......new all leather / leather and fabric / recovering, etc.

But one way would be to find some good 2nd hand one.

Does anybody know just how interchangeable MGF / TF / Trophy seats are between models and years? Same fixings / wiring / tensioners, etc.?

Yes the later seats are completely interchangable, just disconnect the battery for 30 min before unplugging the airbag connections under the seat.

>completely interchangable,

.. but notice the different seat belt tensioner connector if you get hands on late spec MGTF seats.
The ectrical function is the same. Just the connector is different colour and shape.
Not a problem if you swap over your existing tensioners to the new seats.

Err, just seen it is you, Tony.
:-)
_you_ will have no problem with converting the connections old to new. So anyway.

Glad you still have the F Tony.
I still have mine and am not parting with it.
Do you still visit Parkgate?

Sorry to hijack the thread folks.

Have a great weekend all.

Thanks to all for confirming that. It will give me more a lot more scope to choose from.

Hi Dieter,

How are you ? I guess we have been out of touch for quite a while :-(

Lynn and I are both well. Last month we spent 2 weeks down in France, with a week in the Tarn Gorges, followed by another week at St.Remy de la Provence. Wonderful driving, scenery and weather, covering 2,102 miles in total. The car may be over 10 years old and done 107,000+ miles, but it behaved perfectly.!

Now looking forward to next year's trip ! :-))

Regards to Rosie. Perhaps we will meet up again soon.

Hi too to Tony.

Yes we do get up to Park Gate now and then, but not as often as we would like. I keep saying to myself that I will get in touch when I am there, but the days all go so quickly catching up with both our families. Maybe next time.
