MG MGF Technical - MGF Nearly Went

Hi guys,

just to let you know that my MGF nearly went at the weekend - nearly sold it to buy an Audi A4.

Reason being is that since the HGF I haven't been able to trust it not happening again, people don't realise how much things like this put you off a car.

Anyway came to me senses and pulled out - still a proud owner of a R-reg VVC F with on going faults!!, at least these problems keep you on your feet!!

The number of second HGF's in properly rebuilt engines (with the new gaskit and dowels) is very low.

Assuming they "did it right", you should be fine with it - maybe even "better than new".

Watching Wotchdog looks like any VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda/... with multiple coils is a breakdown waiting to happen at the moment: fleet of 6 Audis had ALL failed. There's weeks of delays on the parts, of course.

Mike, i think Neils comment "assuming they did it right" is basicaly all we can hope for, whatever garage you take it to, unless youv'e heard terrible things about the garage you used i wouldn;t worry one jot, just enjoy f and not worry about what might happen COZ it might not,and probably wont,happy motoring Dave T6 DCM.

Phew, that was close Mike. An A4 is an able car - but it's got a tin-top, and that just aint the same. ;o)

Hopefully all those faults and niggles are sorted now?

the only fault now is the steering as it seems to wonder quite a lot and pull to different sides..

Ahhh yes, a common fault. If you check the archives you see that the cure is a trip to the dark side via Mike Satur or Techspeed <grin>.
