MG MGF Technical - MGF VVC engine same as Rover 200VI engine
Hello all, A friend of mine has blown the engine of his Rover 200 VI (1997), according to me it's the same engine as the 1.8 MGF VVC. Can anyone confirm this and does anyone know if you need specials engine brackets if we want to swap it. Many thanks, Marten van der Velde Holland |

Hi Marten I think you will find the engine is exactly the same ( gearbox is different ) and will fit straight into the existing mounting brackets. I'm just swapping mine the other way around, my 1.8 mpi MGF engine disintegrated last week…. Cheers Rob |

Thanks Rob, I hoped that it would, this type of engine is very hard to find in Holland, and I can get hold of a used VVC engine in the UK. Dont't want to make the Parts Selling Department of MG-Rover to happy at the beginning of the year ;-) Regards Marten |

I just may have a decent VVC engine... Dave |

Marten, I would recommend Dave Andrews. Talk to him first before making any decisions... he is a guru on K-series. Cheers! |

Thanks Dave and Hanah, Thanks for your reply. The thing is that a friend of mine has blown the head gasket of his Rover 200 VI and one thing is clear, the head has to be (don't know how to say in English) made flat so it will fit again (this job he may be wants to have done by MG-Rover Holland). But it is still not clear that due to the HGF this has done even more damage within the engine itself. And he still doesn't know what MG-Rover will charge, but I did ask Victoria in W'hampton what a engine would cost, I don't know if you know what is wise to do at the moment. Regards, Marten |
