A battery can go overnight, particularly in this weather with extra lights etc being used and damp. Have you tried jumping it?

Do you have any 'leccy mates with a multimeter to see if the battery has volts?

If the battery has volts but they are not getting to the car then the -ve terminal/earth strap or +ve terminal on the battery could be o/c (not making electrical contact). If the battery has no volts you need to find where they went - lights left on is not unheard of! But relays sticking on can be harder to trace - the multimeter and somebody who understands what it can reveal is the key here. But always try the simple things first!

A flat battery is most likely explanation here - but a quick check with a multimeter will yield some helpful clues as to what i going on :o)

Could be a defective 5AS (burglar alarm/body control) unit. Seems to have been a spate of the recently. Ralph

Wayne - we'd be interested to know what it was, or if it still is, a problem. I think in modern parlance it is known as 'closure'.
