MG MGF Technical - More brake options ??

I have been doing some research in to the brakes on our cousins the Lotus Elises.

The S1 has;

a PCD identical to the F 95.25
Their standard rotors are 282.5 mm dia and 26 mm thick, front and back.
They have AP racing 2- piston opposed piston alloy front callipers with Brembo single sliding callipers on the rear.
And they fit under the standard Elise 15” wheels

So this begs the questions has anybody?

1, tried the Lotus 282.5 mm dia disks on the F – I have not yet found any offset or hub data.
2, tried to fit the Elise callipers to the F

Failing this do you have any tech specs of the Elise calipers?

Regards

Steve

The Elise has the same PCD as the MGF?!?!!?!?

Jeepers, you're right Steve, the S1 (NOT the S2) uses the 95.25mm PCD that we know and love...!

That IS interesting... Time for a little more investigation me thinks... :o)

BTW Steve, there is not much info on the Lotus BBS Archive, but for the additional info you require, try posting this same question on the Elise Technical BBS :o)
Rob Bell

Yes, not only is the PCD the same but the hubs and bearings are the same, and the drive shafts I would presume. The uprights however are very different.

Does this mean that Elise wheels will fit an F?

They did some rather sexy alloys for the S1...

They might well do Andy - depends on the offset that Lotus specified for their wheels...

David makes an important point regarding the uprights: this presumably means that you can't take the Lotus calipers and simply bolt them on... :o(

From the Elise service manual
Size - front 5.5J x 15CH/H2 ET 14
- rear 7J X 16 H2 ET 16
option 7.5J x 16H2 ET10

PCD 95.25
Inset - front +14 mm
- read +16 mm
option +10 mm

Does this help Scarlet ?

Also from the Elise service manual.

Note that the inset figure is the offset of the wheelrim centerline relative to the wheel/hub mounting face. A positive figure indicates that the wheelrim centerline lies inboard of the wheel mounting face, whereas a neagative figure means that he wheelrim centerline is outboard of the mounting face.

Hmmm clear as mud !
