MG MGF Technical - my mgf eats cats
Mgf failed mot, needed new cat converter. New MG Rover part fitted and 1500 miles later cat shot, all broken up inside. any ideas |

I think overfueling can lead to unburnt fuel getitng into CAT which can damage them. NOt sure if that would lead to it breaking up though. Are yougetting any other signs of overfuelling (sooty exhuast pipes, petrol smell when idling etc?) |

The exhausts were a nice grey colour and emisions spot on at time of MOT. |

Strange for it to actually be in bits - I had one on a VW that rattled(after 180k miles!)and that was just a big melted blob. I think the only thigs to cause them to break are impacts, heavy handling, sudden cooling like floods or it was duff to start with - especially as your previous emmisions and fueling sounds ok. |

Love the title of your thread, no advice from me unfortunately though! |

take cat of & put straight pipe on after m.o.t. this gives your cat a unlimited life. don't over use your cat honey you only get one. |

What a let down. I thought this post was the answer to getting rid of my pesky moggies without the wife suspecting foul play. Hope you are getting your 'f's out and about. I have to make do with a cabriolet Land Rover for the time being. |
