MG MGF Technical - My mobile phone carkit solution!

Hello all,

I recently bought a mobile phone carkit (since in the Netherlands it's now illegal to make phonecalls while holding the phone).
I decided to buy one of the cheapest (but highest recommended) systems on the market: the mr Handsfree carkit (approximately 90 Euros). This system comes with a microphone and speaker which have to be installed in the car.
I personally don't like the looks of all these things (plus cables in the car) so I decided to really go for it and try to hide everypart of this system as much as possible.
I must admit that I have really been encouraged to do this by seeing some of the DIY things others in this forum have done (especially Dieter). I don't think I would have dared to undertake this endeavour otherwise.

Anyway, I thought I'd share my solution with you:

Cheers,
Robbert.

p.s. I does work quite alright, although I must say that I hardly ever make phonecalls in my car (maybe some 10 calls in the last three months).
Robbert

Robbert, your solution looks great! Congratulations.
I will try one of these, if a new law comes in here as well!

The cars on the left side.. are these yours? (one gray and one BRG)

Thanks!

Hanah,

yes, the "cars" on the left "are" "both" mine. Actually, it's one and the same car. The pictures were taken with different digital cameras which explains the difference in colour (the car is BRG -> HFF style).

Another solution is a Nokia handsfree - The speaker is on a unit which fits into the cigarette lighter. the mic fits on the dashboard and the phone can sit in the ashtray - cost $150 NZ contact me for details - I was using one untili bought a blue tooth phone with a cordless head set - This si the ultimsatr way to go.. but $480 Nz for the haed set and $1000 for the phone. both Nokia and Errison have blue tooth phones. alsao has the ability to talk to a computer and printer with bluw tooth facilities

David it's the huge thingy you are talking about right!? :-)

I thought about it.. but it's too massive! Also my ciggi socket is used by a radar detector.

But if I need it, I will let you know! Thanks!
I am using Nokia 8310. No Blue tooth. Ericsson T68 and T39 have Blue tooth.

Robbert -> upper crashed car (bonnet squeeashed)(dark gray) is that the same car as the cool BRG hardtopped one? I love your hard top! Did you get the wing fixed yet? IT looks painful...

Yep, isn't it amazing? This happened just under two years ago. The wing situation was a close encounter with a bus. All fixed now! And for the hardtop: this is a Mike Satur aluminium one. I don't have it anymore, by the way. I sold it to Benjamin (of the French forum). He had it painted to match his silver gray car!

cheers,
Robbert.
