MG MGF Technical - My windows stop working!
MY2000 MGF, my windows stop working! Ive checked fuses, checked switches, & changed window ecu/relay (YWC 106170) on drivers side footwell Any ideas what else it could be? |

Both windows or just one? The driver's window often fails because of burn out in the switches contacts. It can be cleaned, but second hand switches can be easily obtained, and swapping over is easy. |

Thanks Rob, Both windows have stopped working, will check switches again by swapping over and had a thought to check power getting to fuse board. Ron |

Upon making further checks and have discovered no power getting to fuses 4&5 both fuse are served by the window lift relay R2, Ive removed and tested seems OK, not sure what to try now HELP!

Odd that there's no power to those fuses. Perhaps one of the under bonnet fuses have gone? |

Checked fuses under bonnet, Having removed R2 window lift relay on fuse board to find it is a BLACK pattern part! could anyone tell me if it should be a Yellow and what part number ie (YWB10012) picture below Many thanks Mark PS MGF MY2000 one shot drivers window model ![]() |

Hmmm- can't help; my cars are both Mk1s! :o/ |
Rob Bell |
I had a problem with both windows last year on a Mk1 F when F18 under the dash blew. The RAVE disc didn't even mention it on the cct diagram yet it provides the 12v both to the coil and the contacts of the window lift relay which feeds the individual window fuses. 15A and it hasn't gone since in several thousand miles, worth a try. |

Thanks for the follow up! I've not heard of that many failures of the MFU - has anyone else? |
Rob Bell |
Wet in the footwell caused damp to get into the fuse box and ECU as it is on the back of fuse board A bit of eurostar thing!!!LOL |
M V Turner |
ROFLMAO! One thing though - have you solved the leak into the driver's footwell? This can sometimes prove a little tricky. There's some info on this in the archives, but I can't remember the details off hand... |
Rob Bell |
Have replaced rear window as it was holed hope this will solve the water problem? |
M V Turner |
No, this won't. There's some information on the archives, but solving driver's side water ingress like this is not quite as simple as you might think. But there are solutions... |
