MG MGF Technical - Need to change shockers

Whilst installing lowering pins I tested the shockers on my 98'F and feel that they offer little resistance to movement. I can easily compress then by hand but they are a little harder to expand them.

These shockers have stamped on them:

Front:
ROVER
RNB 102570
MONROE
8116 1825 7FB

Rear:
ROVER
RPD 101580
MONROE
8116 1810 7FB.

Does any one have cross reference numbers for equivalent aftermarket shockers?
Or does anyone have a good set of 4 standard shockers they no longer want?

Cheers,
Branko

Or do shockers from any other cars fit the MGF's?

thanks
Branko

Never found any. It's said Gabriel do MGF gas shocks, but they are not listed on their site.
Gabriel rear 69991 and front 69990.

Btter go for new Bilsein, Koni or Spax.

Branko,

you are welcome to try my old dampers. I just removed them from Pat's car. Let me know today so that I can retrieve them from the hopper. They still have life left in them. I have replaced them with the KYB adjustable dampers from my white race car. On it I have fitted some new Koni adjustable gas dampers which are available from Rick Kemp out at Toperformance (the Koni agent) in Vermont.

Dieter, Thanks for the info. I've used Gabriels before. They are OK as a direct replacement.

David,
I just want a quick fix for now so Many thanks, I have left a message for you.

Branko, this is normal for standard shockers! ROFL

There is next to no resistance on compression, just to rebound. This is the reason why the standard shock mounts are so flimsy - they don't actually need to transmit very much load to the body shell.

Most of the damping function is performed by the hydragas sphere.
