MG MGF Technical - New 150 BHP + K series !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Gang Well news is going out of the other BBs that MGR are going to give details next month about "A Turbo K series with 150+ BHP" My question to you tech guys is this, given that the "K" is the most likely motor to HGF, who in there right mind would Turbo it??????????? Mega.

K Series VVC already puts out 160BHP naturally aspirated. MPi engine can be taken up to around the same levels with work to the cylinder head (I belive this is the VHPD unit). For a turbocharged unit I would be expecting somewhere in the region of 190+ BHP. I'm not getting into an argument with you over HGF. I have 30,000 miles and not a single problem, electrical, mechanical or otherwise. It's one of the most reliable cars I've owned (although I don't tend to get problems with any of the cars I have owned ...)

Mega, Ever heard of R annd D? That's who but only possibly!! Things move on quickly. Your new Honda is already yesterday's news ..... :o) BTW. How valid are these "turbo" K series "news" or are they merely mega-rumours? After all, with a N/A K series already getting 160 in a production car, surely 190+ would be VERY conservative for a turbocharged version? Dont figure. If there IS some substance in the rumours, then a turbocharged KV6 would be a very atractive proposition. JMcF

old news again, mega ! just the 150 you imagined looks a bit rediculous ! http://www.turbotechnics.com/cars/mgf.htm Bob vanM

They have done good work on the HGs of the MG Lolas so I guess they are getting much new technology from the engine consultants (whose name escapes me). Thank God the R&D department isn't staffed with pessimistic knockers (i.e people who knock things though the other interpretation is just as good!) like Mega.

I've just read in Evo that the claim of 150bhp from the 1.8 may be true. They claim they're going to turbocharge the 1.8 mpi to produce 150bhp and loads more torque. The limited bhp figure is claimed to be due to the threat of matching the v6 engines. They also mention it won't be suitable for the TF due to the increased heat generated. Interestingly they also compare the type R Civic to an MPV, though their review is not half as bad as the one on www.pistonheads.com. Sorry, couldn't resist. Darren

It is true, it was mentioned in MGR's OnTrack Magazine this month. "in excess of 150bhp" - means 151bhp then ;) Steve.
