MG MGF Technical - New stereo
I have gone and lost the removable keypad of the original MG radio again. Anyway one of the buttons was broken so I have decided to buy a new radio. The thing is I have a Sony cd changer in the boot and when I inquired at Halfords the guy told me that I must buy a Sony head unit. And directed me to some very expensive stuff. This seems quite strange, I remember that a Philips changer I had in my old rover had exactly the same as the Sony and the cassette from both could be swapped. I don't want to spend much at all, just a basic cassette and radio unit that will work with the cd changer. Any recommendations, do I have to buy a Sony unit? |

Pretty sure thats correct - the unit mechs may be the same, but the electrics will be sony only. When I came across this recently I found that there was very little available with cassette, and Pioneer (the CD changer I had) was quite expensive - so I brought a Kenwood for £150 which alows MP3 CD's, if you have a CD burner then this is a much better solution bacause it allows you to get 11 CD's onto one at near CD quality or 22 at radio quality. |

I agree with Will, I went the same way with MP3 and Kenwood. |

I would say that you should only use halfords for reference. When looking for a LCD monitor DIN head set, I found the same model £450 cheaper on line!!!! Buy your unit through a trusted online company and you should be laughing. |

>I found the same model £450 cheaper Jesus Christ - I only payed £150 for mine, It was the same price at a local car shop as at Halfords, but I got 'service' at the local so I brought it there! |

Its those, 7" LCD screens with a single slot CD which can also run DVD's Will. They can cost as much as £2000 pounds, but I was looking at a far cheaper (errm...) £1k unit. Retail £1450 in Halfords! |

Paddy, My brother picked one of those up, with a TV tuner and cd multichanger (errm I think I've missed a bit, there were three boxes) secondhand, but still in original boxes with all manuals for £400! |

I always miss out on the best deals. Hes done well there, regardless of brand! However with MGF's multichangers can be a bit of a pain in the @rse. If any more come up let me know (:0 |
