MG MGF Technical - Newylinder Head Requirement

Quite recently, my cylinder head gasket failed,a new gasket was fitted by the Main Dealer in Nottingham.
Shortly after this the gasket failed again and the dealer stated that the cylinder head was warped and I needed a complete new head fitted.
5 weeks have passed and the dealer still has my car. They state "We cannot get a new head from Rover" and we cannot give you any timescales on when we can get one"
Can anyone tell me where I can get a brand new head at short notice.

Have a word with Dave Andrews
he could sell you a tuned/ported head prob for less than your dealer!

try his site www.dvapower.com
or email him on dvapower@aol.com

he's a good guy and a brilliant engine tuner

Somebody will be along soon with a link but worth contacting Dave Andrews in Miton Keynes or Mike Satur or MGF Centre.

Mike (MS) and Victoria (MGF Centre) both advrtise on here - follow the link to advertisers.

?? does it have to be "new" ?? Dave will probably have very low milage items removed from Elises etc.

I hate it when work gets in the way of BBS business - somebody had an IT problem and allowed Neil to get in.

I know someone who is currently selling a VVC head Adrian: have you got a VVC or an MPi?

I'd agree with Neil though - David Andrews is the man to talk to: he may even have a spare head for you as well - or he may be able to salvage your existing head. You don't *have* to have it ported at the same time, although the Darkside always says that this is a good idea... ;o) LOL

Can the head not be skimmed?
Will Munns

Head skimmed?
why not?
but if it's off it seems a waste of a wonderful opportunity to have a little tweak
it makes the job not such a repair as a tune up!
and the cost seems better spent!
Neil

Adrian,

As your dealer has screwed up before (they should have checked the head's condition before refitting) ask about warranty if the "non-Rover head" will be fitted.

Cheers,
Erik
