MG MGF Technical - non-starter
Tonight, stopped at supermarket on way home. On getting back in car (about 20 mins after stopping) it won't start. All normal lights on dashboard, but nothing at all as far as starter motor etc. concerned. Tried putting in gear and moving car; nothing doing. MGF mpi P reg. Chris |

Have a look at the spade connection to the solenoid on your starter motor (well known problem area). Pulling it off and then pushing it back on again will probably get you started, but I'd clean it with contact cleaner or replace the connector. |

Thanks, David; had to abandon the car a few miles away, so am now off to try a few ideas. |

Well, got back to the car this morning. Noticed there was a garage open on the other side of the carpark. guy came out with battery booster and it started first time. Not sure how it ran down last night in 20 mins (after a 35 minute drive). Been to have battery checked out, Kwikfit (sorry, nearest place to work!) said it is OK, holdfing charge and charging at 13.7 v., but have bought a new battery anyway. Fingers crossed. |

What about the earth straps and their connections to body, battery terminal and engine? |

just to complete this thread: new batery solved; it was the electric fan that caused the battery to die. |
