MG MGF Technical - O2 sensor

hi all,
where can i get wiring/cabling diagram of MGF ECU. i need to locate oxygen sensor wire & ground wire going into the ECU.

all help much appreciated.
Jason

Hi Jason,
for the MK1 F there are 2 cables at the MEMS connectors : oxygen sensor + is solid grey, oxygen sensor - is light-green /gray. Same colours on both 1.8I and VVC. If You poke around in the free cables entering the main MEMS plug You will find them. These colours are not repeated at that plug so no fear of choosing wrong ones... Be very careful with attaching longer runs of cable to those points as the oxygen sensor is very high ohm output and is very easy upset by interfering noise from other sources as ignition etc. Best is to use screened 2 wire cable. Attach screen to ground AT ONE END ONLY,leave the other end free. The 2 sensor cables should always be left floating in respect to ground! Reading from the sensor at full throttle will NOT be true value as a pre-set voltage is beeing induced by MEMS at this point. For true accurate readings at all loads a separate oxygen sensor not far from the original one is prefered.

carl,
thanks lots for response. will have a look & see.

as a matter of curiosity, had anyone installed an idle timer/turbo timer on their F? the reason for my original post is that i intend to install one. this one functions as (1) a timer - engine idles 1-3 minutes after switching off.(2) display readings from oxygen sensor (3) display air/fuel ratio (4) low battery warning.

i'm asking whether the F's immobiliser will be affected since when we lock using blipper/keys, the engine immobiliser will arm.

regards
Jason

sorry for the 3rd post. must've confused myself when typing in carl's name by mistake.

There is a delayed power-down on the MEMS- it is used to operate the purge valve for between 5 to 10 minutes after ignition off. You could probably use this.

Carl used this as a way of powering the electric windows - details of this mod are on Dieter's site: http://www.mgfcar.de/power_delay_by_carl/index.htm
