MG MGF Technical - Oil Filler
Also the oil filler is flopping about in the engine bay, how is this normally fitted to the side of the engine please??? |

The filler pipe is on two sections; the lower section is a steel tube running into the crankcase with a support flange at the top which bolts to the side of the block, and then the upper plastic section push fits down onto the top of the lower section. IIRC the plastic filler body has a flange that bolts to the side of the head to secure it, possible these are missing/broken? |

Usually, the bolt is still in place, secure in its thread. Unfortunately, the metal thread will have been pulled out of the plastic manifold (I presume that your car is an MPi model Gareth, rather than a VVC). Annoyingly common, I've performed the same fix on both my MGFs... epoxy it back into the manifold. Not written a formal 'how to' on this topic, but is mentioned here, and it's pretty straightforward :o) http://mgf.ultimatemg.com/group1/info/journal/index.htm#June%202003 |

I managed to get the braket from ebay £8.95 with free p&p.oh and they are metal not plastic!!!! |

Yup, the bracket is metal. Amazing that it snapped! I wonder what someone's done to it for that to happen??? |
