MG MGF Technical - Paint Code
Had a look through the archives but can't see anything. Can someone tell me what the paint code is for the gloss black round an MGF's windscreen surround? |

Are you going to spray yours David? If so, why not colour code it to the rest of the bodywork? Sam |

Sam All early *F*s had black hoods and black windscreen surrounds because that is the way the designer Gerry McGovern wanted it and said that is the way it should be! If the car is a 'post Gerry McGovern' car then I suppose it no longer matters BUT to my mind the early ones should keep the original paint colours! BTW I see Gerry has now been appointed head of the Land Rover design team! |

He wouldn't approve of the "DARK SIDE" then. :-) Sam |

Sam, Mine already has a colour coded widscreen surround and to be honest I've never liked it. I think that that original design complimented the black hood or hardtop better. It'll soon be winter again and I thought that rather than get my hardtop painted red I would get the windscreen surround painted black. I also think that there is an optical effect in that the black windscreened cars look as if they have lower lines and therefore a sportier look. The question is, what colour is the paint? Will any old gloss black do or does it need to be a specific shade? |

David My '99 F screen surround was pitted and chipped. When I had the front bumper repainted following a minor mishap, I asked the paintshop staff to repaint the screen surround. They did a great job and just used black on the surround. TBH I never thought about the actual code. I suppose there are shades of black. HTH TH |

Think I'm going to have to go with the only solid black paint that I can find which is PAK. I'm sure that a blind man running for a bus won't be able to tell the difference in shade (if any) between the windscreen and my hardtop. |
