MG MGF Technical - Painting the centre console
Now I know Mike Satur sells some flashy and I think rather pricey interior panel enhancements but has anyone successfully tried painting the plastic console using a primer, main coat and a lacquer. I would like to create a gloss red centre console panel? What sort of paint do you use, will it last and if its a special kind of application how much is it? I know motorworld sell dashboard paint at £19.99 I wonder if this is any different to standard car spray paint fom Halfords or just a rip off. Does anyone know if you can powder coat the kind of plastic used on dashboards or would the heat during baking be too much I have access to such equipment and really like the finish. Finally I purchased my MGF recently missing the passenger sun visor. Does anyone know where i can get a reasonably priced replacement as MG dealer wants a small fortune for what is essentially a plastic rectangle. I am considering crafting my own from sheet steel and painting them. |

Erm erm erm >Finally I purchased my MGF recently missing the passenger sun visor. Finally a question I really know the answer to... Midland MGF/ MGF centre, will both be able to sell you a nearly new visor for not a lot. |

Fantastic and do you have a number or a web address? |

Friend did it in a few hours. Halfords supplied the paint and have all the coats needed. No need for baking at all. Go see the paint counter at Halfords. Pretty easy to achieve a good finish. P. |

> I am considering crafting my own from sheet steel and painting them < mmmm.... be careful ... remember anything within the cabin space in front of you has the potential to hit you or for you to hit it in a collision. ER |
