MG MGF Technical - Part stainless/part standard exhaust

Is it possible to use a standard steel exhaust and CAT with a stainless steel down pipe (flexible sections)??

Cheers
D Parr

Yes.... but why.....? If going for a 4-2-1 manifold and down pipe there may be some benefit (though would be better with a sport cat). However if think about changing to reduce the number of times you have to replace the flexi then the benefit is marginal. Flexi's usually get damage by speed bumps or through fatigue neither of which will be solved with an SS down pipe.

what he said!

Exaust manifolds generally don't rot as they get so 'king hot and very quickly too.

I have a stainless steel flexible section which has not been used yet. My current flexible section is damaged and I wondered if I can replace it with the stainless steel version without changing the whole exhaust to stainless steel. I had planned on replacing the whole exhaust for stainless steel version but now I'm not so sure.
D Parr

There is no problem mixing these metals.
Will Munns

As Will says - no problems mixing and matching s/s and m/s exhaust components. :o)
