I am struggling four years now with petrol blowing back. Filling my MGF up takes really time, but somehow I enjoy it, ´cause it gives my time looking at her and looking forward driving her...

Are you following the instructions in the manual and holding the nozzle at parallel to the car with the handle pointing towards the front of the car. I've been using this method for 6 years with no problem.
I suggest you read your owners manual.
dave

Often caused by a twisted pipe, either the filler itself or the breather.

May well be visable with the engine cover removed.

Lots of references in the archive to how to cure it...

Also, have you read the manual? Instructions on how far to put the nozzle into the filler. Too far, and it will blow back.

Or turn the pump handle compleatly upside down, be careful as like this it may alow petrol to overflow if you are compleatly filling the tank.

To answer your original question this is a problem that used to plague the F upto about 1999. When the number of commetns on this board dropped off. The problem is the petrol filler pipe is twisted and required refitting. Speak to your dealer nicely and they may do the refit free of charge as a known problem, (at least to regulars around here).

Cheers Chris, i will ring the dealer tomorrow.

i have had an f for about a month now and i find it a problem filling up with petrol.i find that i pull out about half way then just fill steady.i have tried all ways.
but it does give you time to admire the car i suppose.

Percy,
I had exactly the same problem, and as mentioned above all it is, is the rubber hose connecting the filler with the tank, very simple to sort, undo the two clips and twist the pipe 90 degrees and re-fasten the clips, Sorted!!!! now i can fill mine up with no problems at all

I'm with Darren, additional I would dismantle the filler pipe and check whether the inner 'non return valve flap' at the tank side end of the filler pipe works and has enough play.

I have this problem too, but strangely only at some stations, luckily my local is OK. So far I have aways got around the problem by not pushing the nozzle all the way in. Once I have found the right depth, i have no problems.
