Yeah me to......I have read somewhere that the tanks can suffer leaks. I can only smell this when the car has been stood a few days. |

Interesting photos Dieter - I've not visited that page before. I've always had a slight hint of a smell since I got the car (2½ yrs old in 1998), in fact my sister said it smelt just like my M Type back in 1958! Not strong, but since I had a tankful of Shell VPower last year, the smell has been different, and slightly more noticeable. I will probably go on using VPower - 1500-2000 miles/year won't add up to much more cost, and you never know, the engine might run better! |

There should be no petrol smell inside the car at all. A smell of petrol means petrol fumes are lingering about. A small spark and petrol fumes = BOOOM!! Get the leak checked out asap at a place that can use sniffer type equipment that will trace the source. good luck. Cheers, Branko |

Branko It is/was very common with the *F* and is/was normally one of two things:- Porous tank - unlikely though as this appeared to be limited to a particular batch. Tank filler/breather - some were twisted and this caused fumes to collect which could be detected in the car. Seem to remember that 1/- was a pig of a job but 2/- was dead simple. Either way I do not remember any of the cars that suffered going 'BOOM'. BUT yes get it checked out. |
