MG MGF Technical - Pirrelli P7000
Hi guys, Just about to have some Pirrelli P7000's put on the back (£87 each) - anyone used these before? I already have Goodyear NCT3's on the front, will these go ok together? Regards, Mike Gibson |

You should be okay with that combination. The P7000 is a far superior tyre to the NCT-3, so the worse you'll find is more understeer (be wary about the rear end though, until the greasy new tyres 'bed - in'). A few folks have used P7000s on their F's in the past, and the tyre has a good rating on the BBS tyre survey. The P7000 also did very well in the Autocar tyre test (this week's edition). Shame more high performance tyres weren't tried though :o( |

Rob, just had a look at the tyres that they have fitted and they are not P7000 but P6000, when I asked he said that they don't do P7000??? is this right? Regards, Mike Gibson |

Mike I suggest you tell them to stop speaking out of their exhausts! see:- http://www.pirelli.co.uk/en_GB/tyres/catalog/tyre_product.jhtml;jsessionid=WUUEGJTBX1DSPFYKH5CSFFA?selected=size&catid=UK_UHP&productid=2113 Ted |

HI m8 P6000 are good , but its the P7000 that won all the awards. This is where the P7000 warent their money and the price you paid looks like a slighter cheaper 7000 or a costly 6000. Anyway best thing you can do is dump the Fronts Hope this helps |

i would take P6000 back and ask them to fit P7000 that you asked for. Dave |

Mike The P7000 don't come in a size available for a 15" wheel. (So the guy's right) |

Mike, I'm getting worried about your tyre dealer. As Ted has posted above: >> 195/50 R15TL 82V 205/50 R15TL 86V << These are fine for your car. They don't do the 'standard' 185/55 R15 size, but that's not a problem: use the 195/50 R15. But you were asking for the rears, and that is 205/50 R15, so yes, P7000s DO come in the correct size. |

Guys, Rob, thanks for all your advise on the tyres. The guys at the tyre place are normally good but I dealt with the new guy so as you can expect, just thinks that he knows everything!! Very happy with the tyres but think that I got charged for P7000 instead of the P6000 that I have. Plus I was told that all tyre prices went up in January - but it wasn't the tyre dealers that told me this, does anyone know if this is true? Regards, Mike Gibson |

Mike I have been running P7000 on the back and still have the old GNCTs on the front. I have covered about 10K miles on this combination and found the Pirellis superb in all types of weather. I paid about £80 from Elite tyres at Rainham about a year ago. david |
