MG MGF Technical - polybushes which one most important?
| Hello there, In the near future I am planning to upgrade some bushes on front or rear. But as I am on a tight budget can anyone advise me which one are most preferably to upgrade first. The car is a '97 VVC Thanks, Marten |

| The rear anti-roll bar bushes are a must have as they will stop the rear wheels waggling around under braking and cornering. As far as the rest of them go, whatever you can stretch to (the subframe bushes are expensive to fit becuase it's such a crummy job). |

| Agree with Andy. Do the rear tie bar bushes - it really tightens up the back end when cornering. You may want to think about the shock absorber upper and lower bushes at the same time - the originals are very soft and split/come adrift easily - Mike Satur makes these now. Paul |

| The rear tie bar bushes are important, though a similar effect can be had by fitting "compliance bushes". They are also quite an easy DIY job. Next, the wishbone bushes at the front. This made a huge difference to the tyre wear on the front. Theses are more difficult to fit as a) you have to drop the subframe and b) need a press to change the bushes. The anti-roll bar bushes are also very simple DIY - just undo the bolts and fit them. As Paul says, you may well _need_ shock absorber bushes - mine were completely "shot" last summer! | Thanks guys, Saw that the rear tie bar bushes are very easy to change. Has anyone of you done a DIY on changing the bushes of the shock absorbers is it easy? Regards Marten |

| Shock absorber lower bushes a real easy to do. To get to the upper ones you need to remove the shock absorber. You'll need an oil filter wrench or big pair of stilsons/mole grips to prevent the shocker from turning whilst undoing the nut. Paul |
