MG MGF Technical - Pop-Rivets for Hartop catch
Hi, decided to change the B-post catches from old design p/n DXW100040PMA to new design p/n DXW100200PMA. Bulletin http://www.mgfcar.de/hardtop/hardtop_M6932bu.pdf is talking about rivet p/n DYQ100340 and .... errr, the EPC doesn't list them (any more?) http://www.mgfcar.de/epc/3857.htm :( The problem is: I know the rivet diameter needs to be 5mm diameter. But what length is required ?? Would be great if anyone knows which length to go for. On the other hand I would need to drill one at first and look up myself. Resulting in delays for the change, cause we have not a good sorted supplier here were I live. Regards Dieter |

Can't help you Dieter. I was at my dealer on Saturday trying to get new cantrail seals and fittings and he didn't show the rivets either. |

Dieter, an extract: Pack of 3.5mm pop blind rivets (flat head/aluminium/stainless steel) about 20 will do. Main shank of rivet needs to be 17mm from top of head to bottom of pin before "popping", actual rivet length must be 15mm from here: http://leisure.prior-it.co.uk/replace-mgf-window.shtml Cheers, Branko |

Branko, Great article on replacing the rear window, but I don't think these are the rivets Dieter is refering to. He's after the dimension of the rivets that are used to fix the rear catches to his hard-top. Doh, pity I never measured them when I upgraded my catches - sorry Dieter! |

Thanks for your comments. Great article, indeed. Will link back on my window replacement site. Tony, so I'll look up the big catch rivets myself and put on site later. Regards Dieter |

Looks like it time to upgrade my glasses. :-) Cheers, Branko |
