MG MGF Technical - Possible wheel bearing gone
Hi When I turn a right hand corner or bend I get a screeching/squealing noise from the right had rear end which I think is coming from the wheel. It only happens when turning and goes away when I am on a straight drive. Could this be a wheel bearing ? Its a 96 MGF 1.8i with 36K on the clock. Any ideas ?

Not sure about this one but it could be the breaks- when worn down they squeel, but this can be heard early if the breaks are applied very slightly (by changing pressure in the system, bending pipes etc). If this is the case I would expect it to not appear until you have been driving for a little while- or at least get louder when the wheels are hot. I had this on the 200, but I think the F uses the same system (make a loud awful noise until you take it to a garage) Will

Could be(likely) low brake pad warning device. Mike.

Thanks for the feedback so far. The problem that I see is that when I use the brakes the noise does not change in any way so I felt that the problem is not linked to the braking system. If it was a wheel bearing would the noise from the bearing be there all the time and not just when I am turning a corner ??

Mike You where correct. It was the brake pad indicators making the noise. £25 later and 1 hours work and everything back to normal. Thanks
