MG MGF Technical - Power loss ??
Do somebody know what the problem could be with a power loss of a MGF VVC? I is very noticeable above say 3,000 revs(with normal driving) I can't get it to 7,000 like normal in a reasonable mgf time ( if I can get to that, I didn't checked it) The HGF is OK, I already checked that. Br, Dide |

Hi Dide, others will proably fill in with more info, but as a first item : Power loss on a VVC and difficulty to reach rev. limit is often due to VVC cam mech. out of sync. The solenoid valves and their electrical connectors should be checked. If you have a decent MG/Rover garage close they can do a Test-Book run that will tell if the VVC cam mech. is well and alive. Faulty solenoids/adjusting valves + mechanism are well known problems. BR, Carl. |

Do you know because its a well known problem(if that is the problem) if that is a expensive repair? or does that depanding on the defect parts? Br, Dide |

I've made a test with my Mg. I can't get i higher than +- 5800 revs. Can i drive with it (to the garage) or is this bad for the VVC? |

Dide, Sounds like it is in 'fail-safe' mode and so should be OK to drive to the dealers. Carl's thoughts on the VVC mechanism sound good. I had the VVC solenoids replaced just over a year ago, using a main MGR dealer at a cost of 115 GBP including VAT. |
