MG MGF Technical - Power Steering

This morning the 'power steering' warning light came on. Thus the power steering wouldn't work at all. It is in the garage now. Can anyone suggest maybe what is wrong?

First thing i would check is the epas fuse located under the bonnet near the battery, it has a cover over it.

No need to leave the car in the garage because the EPAS doesn't work - many MPi owners have never known what it even feels like; many more have fitted the Munns EPAS bypass switch in order to get improved steering feel. I regularly pull the EPAS fuse when I want to enjoy the car.

Of course, if by garage you mean the dealer then ignore what I just typed.

some of us never had EPAS to start with...keeps the wife off the car...perfect!!!

In a past life, I was responsible for reviewing EPAS warranty claims. The vast majority of these were in the NFF "No fault found" catagory. I.E. dealer has replaced a component when a check of the connectors would have sufficed.

If dealer informs you that you have a duff ECU, ask him to try your ECU on another car (would take 20 mins tops). If it works you've saved yourself a pile of cash.

good advice

Thanks for all your suggestions and help. It was merely the fuse and the fuse panel. In total £72. So not too bad. Panic over.

Now just have to try and sell it!
